1. Establish Your Christian Identity

Let your identity be known upon arrival on the job if you are already a Christian, or upon your acceptance of the Lord Jesus. Do not get lost in the crowd; ensure your word and conduct lets people know you believe in Jesus.

Your identity as a follower of Christ should be clear and unmistakable from the beginning, creating a foundation for future witnessing opportunities.

2. Maintain a Consistent Prayer Life

Pray for your workers or colleagues and customers also. Unless your spirit is attentive to God all the time, you will not know when the opportunity comes for you to easily speak or share the gospel. God can seize an opportunity to make room for you.

Also, be ready as you labor in prayer to be patiently consistent in sowing the seed of the Word of God. When there is an opportunity to pray to God publicly, pray like someone who knows the God you are praying to.

3. Practice Patience Over Arguments

Be patient and not argumentative. Your calling is to win souls and not arguments. Focus on sharing the gospel rather than engaging in debates that may hinder your witness.

Scripture provides clear guidance on this approach:

"Again I say, don't get involved in foolish, ignorant arguments that only start fights. A servant of the Lord must not quarrel but must be kind to everyone, be able to teach, and be patient with difficult people. Gently instruct those who oppose the truth. Perhaps God will change those people's hearts, and they will learn the truth. Then they will come to their senses and escape from the devil's trap. For they have been held captive by him to do whatever he wants." (2 Timothy 2:23-26 NLT)

If your identity is confusing, you will not reach the world as you will not be taken seriously. You cannot promote both the devil and Jesus and expect to be taken seriously. You are more interested in what people will say rather than what God would have you do. That is not a lifestyle that Jesus honours.

Stop supporting the devil and then expect God to support you. Consistency in your witness and lifestyle is crucial for effective workplace evangelism.
