Understanding Your Kingdom Citizenship: This Is Where I Am Now

Introduction

At times, answers and light come to you but you never realize what they really are because you never had a question in the first instance. Understanding where we are as believers requires us to ask the right questions about our spiritual position and citizenship.

The Reality of Our Transfer

The prophet Isaiah declared a magnificent truth about the coming Messiah:

"For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace There will be no end, Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, To order it and establish it with judgment and justice From that time forward, even forever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this." (Isaiah 9:6-7 NKJV)

This prophecy found its fulfillment in Christ, who has accomplished something remarkable for every believer:

"He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins." (Colossians 1:13-14 NKJV)

Understanding the Change of Authority

Someone is in charge of the former location while another person is in charge of your new location. He that is in charge of the former location hates you desperately. However, the One in charge of the new location loves you unconditionally. The one in charge of the former location cannot extend his hand or dominion over you in your new location. Refuse to be influenced by him by buying his ideas, thoughts, and principles.

Essential Questions for Kingdom Citizens

To fully grasp the reality of our new position, we must ask ourselves these critical questions:

1. Is This Place Real?

Jesus Himself confirmed the reality of His kingdom when He declared:

"My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, My servants would fight, so that I should not be delivered to the Jews; but now My kingdom is not from here." (John 18:36 NKJV)

Furthermore, He explained our status to His Father:

"I have given them Your word; and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world." (John 17:14 NKJV)

2. What Is This Place That I Am Now?

3. What Does It Mean That I Am Here?

4. Why Did He Bring Me Here?

What does He expect to happen when I say yes to Him?

5. What Happened to Me by Being Here?

6. What Things Are Also Here?

In this place that I am now, what are the other elements that exist alongside me?

7. What Are the True Riches Available Here?

8. What Operations Happen Here?

9. How Do We Do Things Here?

10. Why Are We Here?

11. Do I Have a Role or Responsibility?

Do I have a specific function expected of me where I am? If yes, have I found it? Do I understand it? Am I executing it well? If I were not here now, would my absence be felt?

12. Is There Something in This Kingdom That Determines My Life Quality?

Is there something in this kingdom that can determine how well, long, and meaningfully I live?

The apostle Paul reminds us of the care we should expect:

"For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as the Lord does the church." (Ephesians 5:29 NKJV)

The wisdom of Proverbs also teaches us:

"A nation without God's guidance is a nation without order. Happy are those who keep God's law!" (Proverbs 29:18 GNT)

14. How Does Being Here Determine Everything Else?

What is the effect of being in this place? Does this place have the power to determine the quality of my life and the length of my days?

The Abundance of Our New Location

There is no scarcity where we are. God promised His people abundance, and this promise extends to us as His kingdom citizens:

"So it shall be, when the Lord your God brings you into the land of which He swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give you large and beautiful cities which you did not build, houses full of all good things, which you did not fill, hewn out wells which you did not dig, vineyards and olive trees which you did not plant when you have eaten and are full then beware, lest you forget the Lord who brought you out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage." (Deuteronomy 6:10-12 NKJV)

The nature of our promised land is one of complete provision:

"For the Lord your God is bringing you into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and springs, that flow out of valleys and hills; a land of wheat and barley, of vines and fig trees and pomegranates, a land of olive oil and honey; a land in which you will eat bread without scarcity, in which you will lack nothing; a land whose stones are iron and out of whose hills you can dig copper. When you have eaten and are full, then you shall bless the Lord your God for the good land which He has given you." (Deuteronomy 8:7-10 NKJV)

We have been transferred from a realm of darkness and scarcity into a kingdom of light and abundance. The key is recognizing this reality, understanding our position, and walking in the fullness of what has been made available to us.
