The Ultimate Authority of Jesus Christ
by Rev Shola Olayemi

The Power of Jesus' Name in Action
Acts 3:6-8 - "Then Peter said, 'Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.' And he took him by the right hand and lifted him up, and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength. So he, leaping up, stood and walked and entered the temple with them—walking, leaping, and praising God."
Acts 3:16 - "And His name, through faith in His name, has made this man strong, whom you see and know. Yes, the faith which comes through Him has given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all."
Things will have their say but He will have His Way because He has the final say. Even if death speaks, He is the resurrected one.
Understanding True Authority
Authority is the right to control; to be obeyed; for things or people to leave their things and follow your opinion.
Matthew 11:27 - "All things have been delivered to Me by My Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father. Nor does anyone know the Father except the Son, and the one to whom the Son wills to reveal Him."
Matthew 28:18 - "And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, 'All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.'"
Luke 10:22 - "All things have been delivered to Me by My Father, and no one knows who the Son is except the Father, and who the Father is except the Son, and the one to whom the Son wills to reveal Him."
John 3:35 - "The Father loves the Son, and has given all things into His hand."
All things, including what you are challenged by or whatever influence is upon those things, has been subjected and put under Him. He who has the greatest authority is the one who loves me the most. How then can I fail in life?
Jesus: Lord of All
Acts 2:36 - "Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ."
Romans 14:9-10 - "For to this end Christ died and rose and lived again, that He might be Lord of both the dead and the living. But why do you judge your brother? Or why do you show contempt for your brother? For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ."
1 Corinthians 15:27 - "For 'He has put all things under His feet.' But when He says 'all things are put under Him,' it is evident that He who put all things under Him is excepted."
Ephesians 1:20-22 - "which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come. And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church,"
Universal Submission to Christ
The bowing of knees to the name of Jesus depicts submission of everything including opinions, thoughts, wills, desires, and more to Jesus.
1 Peter 3:22 - "who has gone into heaven and is at the right hand of God, angels and authorities and powers having been made subject to Him."
Philippians 2:9-11 - "Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."
Operating in His Authority
1 Samuel 17:45-46 - "Then David said to the Philistine, 'You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin. But I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. This day the Lord will deliver you into my hand, and I will strike you and take your head from you. And this day I will give the carcasses of the camp of the Philistines to the birds of the air and the wild beasts of the earth, that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.'"
Sometimes, the leading of God for your life looks like mediocrity. But stay in His authority, the authority that you now have as His son.
Luke 9:23 - "Then He said to them all, 'If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.'"
Conclusion
The ultimate authority of Jesus Christ is not just a theological concept but a present reality that transforms how we approach every challenge and circumstance. Since all things in heaven and earth have been placed under His feet, and His name carries power over every situation, we can face life with absolute confidence knowing that He who loves us must also possesses the greatest authority. When we operate in His name and submit to His lordship, we align ourselves with the ultimate power in eternity, ensuring that His way prevails regardless of what temporary voices may speak against us.
